Yes, No, or Maybe concepts of making business decisionSliding Scale CBT and ACT Therapy in the Bay Area

If you aren’t able to afford paying the full fee for therapy there are options available.

One option is to receive treatment through a university training clinic. The therapy offered at a university training clinic is provided by advanced level students who are learning CBT. Students are supervised by a licensed clinician who helps guide treatment. University training clinics generally offer sliding scale or very low fee treatment to individuals who are unable to afford the full cost of therapy.

Another option for receiving more affordable therapy is to see a Registered Psychological Assistant. Psychological Assistants have completed their doctorate degree (Ph.D./Psy.D) but are in the process of obtaining the required supervised hours for licensure as a psychologist. Psychological Assistant often have more affordable fees due to being in training.

There are also many CBT and ACT therapists in the Bay Area who offer sliding scale or low fee treatment. When you call to inquire about therapy ask if this is an option. If the therapist does not provide this option they should be able to refer you to someone who does.
